Heat Pump Systems:

A Heat Pump can provide efficient heating and cooling for your home, especially if you live in a climate that varies from -30c to +30c as in the greater Montreal area. When properly installed, a heat pump can deliver 1 1/2 to 3 times more heat energy to a home than the electrical energy it consumes. 

Most mural or central heat pumps are split-systems — that is, they have one indoor air handler and one outdoor heat pump. 

Selecting a Heat Pump:

Every residential heat pump sold in this country has an EnergyGuide label, which displays the heat pump’s heating and cooling efficiency performance rating.

Air Conditioner Systems:

Mural Air Conditioners pull in the warm ambient air dehumidifying, filtering and cooling it through its evaporator coil. After cooling down the air by 8 to 12 degrees cooler than the ambient air, it is released from the bottom of the same unit. There is no exchange with outside air. 

Central air conditioners circulate cool air through a system of supply and return ducts. Supply ducts and registers (i.e., openings in the walls, floors, or ceilings covered by grills) carry cooled air from the air conditioner to the home. This cooled air becomes warmer as it circulates through the home; then it flows back to the central air conditioner through return ducts and registers. There is no exchange with outside air. 

Air conditioners help to dehumidify the incoming air, but in extremely humid climates or in cases where the air conditioner is over sized, it may not achieve a low humidity level.
